Somatic Finance® 5 Minute Try Its

Somatic Finance® is experienced as a Path of Practice. Embodying the principles of Somatic Finance requires building muscles with practice, so that the wisdom of our body joins the wisdom of our mind.

While not separate, it is only with practice that we become fully aware that our mind and body are one. It is only with practice that our body is invited to serve our mind and our mind is invited to serve our body.

Five-minute try it’s are short and powerful practices on your path to financial integrity. We encourage you to just try it and see how strong your Somatic Finance muscles can be!

5-Minute Try It: Computer Screen Glaze… Stand Up!

Minute one:  Acknowledge with grace the amount of time you sit in front of a computer screen working, or even playing, just seated in your chair.  Notice your energy level. Is it low or high, productive or unproductive?

Minute two:   Stand up and place your attention on your feet. Feel the soles of your feet touching the ground. Root your feet down into the earth. Feel the sensations at the point of contact and begin to bring the energy up through your feet into your lower legs. Continue Reading →

5-Minute Try It: Buzz With The Earth – Nature Nurtures!

Note:  Don’t try this if it’s raining or damp and if you are not willing to look like you are in love with the ground.

Minute one:  Go outside in the fresh air and plop down on the ground. Get in direct contact with the earth while lying face up. With eyes open or closed, feel the energy of the earth buzzing where you connect.

Minute two:   Turn over, face turned to one side. Eyes closed, feel the energy of the earth buzzing where you connect.  Notice your breath soften and slow down. Continue Reading →

5-Minute Try It: Strengthen Your Core

Minute one: Smile while standing tall and lunge your right foot forward so that your knee is bent 90 degrees perpendicular to the ground. Either stay here for 30 seconds and switch to the left foot or alternate your right and left foot forward.

Minute two:  Still smiling, lie on your back with your feet raised high in the air and crunch your torso forward. Stretch your arms and hands forward by the side of your legs and pulse forward on your out breath. Continue Reading →

5-Minute Try It: The Business Meeting

In honor of  everyone who has ever or will ever sit in a business meeting…

Minute one:  While seated at the table before the meeting begins, be aware of your entire felt sense of your body. Intensify your body awareness.

Minute two:  Pay attention to the soles of your feet touching the floor. Root down into the earth and draw earth’s energy up through the bottom of your feet into your legs. Continue Reading →

5-Minute Try It: Imagine, Strike a Pose… now MOVE…

Minute one: Get willing to look silly. Get willing to NOT have a reason for doing this activity. If you are not willing, select another Try-It from the archives!  Find willingness in your body and smile.

Minute two: Imagine an animal and strike a pose in the image of that animal. Notice your body sensations. Pick one sensation and move your entire body to that pulse. Extra credit: give voice to your animal. Continue Reading →

5-Minute Try It: Earth & Body: Connect, Merge & Breathe

Note: Inspired by my teacher, Reggie Ray, and other body-meditation practices. Get willing to lie on the ground …

Minute one: Lie down on the ground/ floor with your knees bent and together, feet comfortably apart, hands resting right over left on belly. (Strap your knees together above your quads for extra support if desired.)

Minute two: Rest into gravity and notice any tension located in your body. Tensions might be: body sensations, pain, thoughts, tingles and feelings, etc.

Minute three: Bring your awareness to the points where your body makes contact with the earth. Connect these points energetically and allow your tension to merge with the earth through these points.

Minute four: Use your breath to magnetize merging and to soften. On the in-breath, access tension. On the out-breath, release, through the points of contact.

Minute five: Merge your breath with the earth. Harmonize the movement. Soften any and all body tension by releasing and merging with the earth.   Complete your practice by inviting the earth to continue to receive any tension that arises through all points of contact.
