Identity Capital

What’s your identity capital? I wonder…

A friend sent me a link to Meg Jay’s Ted Talk entitled, Why 30 is not the new 20. (Here is the link: http://www.ted.com/talks/meg_jay_why_30_is_not_the_new_20.html).  In her presentation, Meg offered three points to investigate when entering the workforce and career building. One of the three points was related to “Identity Capital”. She said, explore work and make it count.

Captivated by the pairing of these words identity and capital, I began to wonder.  Identity is the condition of being oneself; capital is related to wealth.  What is the value of me? …. the one and only me?  This investigation, while offered to young adults in their 20’s, is a beautiful inquiry for every living being.  In this exploration, you might wonder with a series of open questions: What are my unique gifts to offer the world? How are these gifts my unique identity? Am I revealing these identity gifts in my present work?  Does value match my identity? What is needed to nail my identity capital without doubt?  From here, it simply a matter of opening to where your gifts are of service.

What’s your identity capital? How are you hiding or revealing it? I wonder.
