Financial Diet

Have you ever been on a diet? … a financial diet? I wonder…

In a recent conversation with a dear friend, she shared that she is on a financial diet.  Her financial situation is solid; meaning that she is not in dire straits about to lose her home, job or general comfort. She is simply, consciously choosing to be on a financial diet. I did not ask her about specifics, but I sensed the clarity and power in her declaration. Guess what? I am also on a financial diet.  Here’s my situation. After paying my daughter’s college tuition and digesting my credit card bills for the past few months, I noted my desire to brighten my spending practice with clarity and alignment. I declared for the remainder of this year to spend no more than XXX amount each month on my personal credit card.  This statement is the essence of my intention. A more formal intention looks like: I choose my credit card charges with purpose, ease and joy manifesting monthly charges of $xxx or lower.

Allowing this intention to hold the practice, I will reconcile my diet each month – ensuring purchases align with purpose – feeling ease in the process – expanding joy, while measuring progress.

How about you? Are you game for a financial diet? Would a financial diet be of service to you? If so, what would your financial diet look like? I wonder…
